SUMMARY:Exploring the Symbolism of Masks - Celebrating Day of Arts 2025
DESCRIPTION:Presentation and Workshop\nCharges – 500 Rs\nBook your ticket here – https://tinyurl.com/ykw8syxy \nOn 21st June we invite you for a presentation and workshop specially curated for you to explore the symbolism behind masks. Masks are widely used in performing arts. Have we ever wondered about its deeper meaning? \nWhether it is theatre\, dance\, rituals or sacred ceremonies – masks has served as symbols across civilizations\, that conceal the mystery that is man. In Balinese tradition masks took on a sacred meaning\, where the dancer or performer had to undergo a purification process before wearing the mask ceremonially. In theatre ‘masks’ help the actor get into character. In certain African tribes\, masks were used to help communicate with ancestral spirits. In Ancient Egypt it is said that masks briefly helped the priests to temporarily embody the quality of the deity which they were trying to depict. In today’s times we sometimes interpret it as pretending to be someone we are not. \nWhat is the mask made of? In Latin the word ‘ persona’ means mask. We all carry different personalities i.e. different ‘masks’ as we engage in this stage called life. May be masks invite us to engage with the philosophical question ‘Who am I who is wearing the mask?’

What can we learn from this special painting that can enable us to live with more clarity and meaning in today’s world? \nJoin us as we draw inspiration and lessons from the book ‘Concentration and Inner Awakening’ authored by Fernand Schwarz.

DESCRIPTION:Philosophical Talk \nRegsiter Here – https://www.eventbrite.com/e/inner-life-lessons-from-marcus-aurelius-tickets-1307058249409?aff=website \n“Nowhere can a man find a quieter or more untroubled retreat than in his own soul” – Marcus Aurelius \nIn a world full of distractions\, do we truly make time for quiet reflection? Marcus Aurelius—scholar\, military leader\, Roman Emperor\, and Stoic philosopher of 2nd century AD Rome—found solace and strength in moments of inner stillness. Despite the chaos surrounding him\, he would retreat into his thoughts\, penning reflections that reveal his pursuit of lofty ideals and his honest acknowledgment of imperfections. \nJoin us as we delve into Meditations by Marcus Aurelius and explore how the art of reflection can bring more depth and meaning to our daily lives.

DESCRIPTION:Discover the interplay of masculine and feminine energies in Kalaripayatt\, an ancient martial art that harmonises body\, mind\, and spirit. He is also a contemporary dancer\, choreographer and physical theatre performer for over 18 years. He is the great-grandson of Veera Shree C. V. Narayanan Nair\, who re-established Kalaripayatt – the traditional martial art of Kerala. And the grandson of C. V. SUMMARY:Restoring Health through Equilibrium
DESCRIPTION:Philosophical Talk \nBook your free seat here – https://tinyurl.com/3883epev \nThe Caduceus is a symbol representing dynamic equilibrium. In Greek mythology\, the Caduceus was the staff given to Hermes by Apollo. Maybe there is a key towards healing that we can learn from its symbolism. What if we could learn this art of balance\, not just within our physical bodies\, but also within the opposing pulls within our psyche\, and eventually between our deepest ideas and sentiments and our outer choices? Dis – ease which manifests in our bodies\, perhaps gives us a clue on what within us we need to pay attention to\, what we need to bring back in proportion\, in order for us to regain our equilibrium and therefore our health.
