SUMMARY:My Role in the Universe – Lessons from Kybalion
DESCRIPTION:Register here to reserve your free seat – https://bit.ly/3mZ2Lpr \nThe Kybalion\, is a philosophical text carrying the teachings of the mystical Hermes Tristemegus. Its origin can be traced back to ancient Egypt and Greece. Amongst many other things\, it speaks of the laws of the universe. We humans are an integral part of nature\, and therefore these natural universal laws probably apply to us as well. Can we learn to align to laws of nature? It may give us some clue to understand our role in the ‘Universe’ and therefore help us to create harmony. Join us as we learn about some of these laws from the Kybalion\, in order to view life from a wider perspective and live inspired by a larger aim. \nThis talk will give you a glimpse of the third part of the Living Philosophy course\, which covers ideas related to the Universe and our role within it. \nThis event is third in the\n‘Glimpse into Living Philosophy Course Series’\nWith meaning in life there is a sense of being alive. We dare to dream and become able to turn them into reality. We learn to turn mistakes into stepping stones. Could it be that deep within our heart we we already know what our purpose is? May be all we need to do is to dare to open our hearts and our mind. \nPlease sign up for this event (free) – https://bit.ly/3mZ2Lpr \nYou can always reach out to us on  9930198253 with any queries you may have. \nThis Event is hosted by New Acropolis Pune\, a School of Philosophy\, which is run and managed completely by volunteers\, who come together in the common pursuit of Philosophy as a way of Life.

SUMMARY:Daring to Choose – Insights from ‘The Matrix'
DESCRIPTION:Register here to reserve your free seat – https://bit.ly/3ZXyUw5 \nOur choices determine how happy or satisfied we are in our life. Yet it is often difficult to be decisive since what is right and what is comfortable to do\, don’t always match. But maybe if we choose to follow the path of truth and virtues\, we will learn to positively impact our own self and in turn our society. \nIn the movie ‘ The Matrix’\, Morpheus challenges Neo to make a decision about how he wants to live his life. If he takes the red pill then he will be on the journey to true knowledge but if he takes the blue pill then he will continue to live in ignorance. The ‘Allegory of the cave’ written much earlier (nearly 2500 years ago) by Plato also highlights similar ideas related to our freedom of choice and therefore its consequences. \nJoin us for this talk where we will draw inspiration from ‘ The Matrix’ and ‘The Myth of the cave’ by Plato.\nThis talk will give you a glimpse of the second part of the Living Philosophy course\, which covers ideas related to Sociopolitics. \nThis event is Second in the\n‘Glimpse into Living Philosophy Course Series’\nWith meaning in life there is a sense of being alive. We dare to dream and become able to turn them into reality. We learn to turn mistakes into stepping stones. Could it be that deep within our heart we we already know what our purpose is? SUMMARY:Philosophical Lessons From Nature : Celebrating International Mother Earth Day (Panel Discussion)
DESCRIPTION:LIMITED SEATS – Registration mandatory – https://bit.ly/40ILbol\nVenue @ Deccan Gymkhana \nIn many ancient cultures the Earth is symbolised as “Mother”\, representing the unity and harmony of life. This symbolism inspires virtues such as altruism\, generosity\, justice and order. Just as mother earth supports the human beings and countless other forms of life\, we as an integral part of nature probably have a role to play to maintain the natural balance. \nIn celebration of International Mother Earth Day\, the Pune branch of New Acropolis Cultural Organisation India is hosting a panel discussion to explore the intimate connection between Philosophy and Nature. The panel has accomplished representation from environmental science\, nature-inspired art\, sacred groves\, and Eco-volunteering. Yaron Barzilay\, the National Director of New Acropolis India\, will bring the philosophical perspective to string the discussions together. \nThe panelists will include \n• Yaron Barzilay – National Director of New Acropolis India\n• Ketaki Ghate from OIKOS – An organisation working with a specific objective of nature conservation to restore and improve the status of natural resources\, processes and biodiversity.\n• Shailaja Deshpande from Jeevit Nadi – This organisation mobilises local volunteers in a sustained manner in order to revive Mula Mutha River.\n• Shakti Bishnoi who will share her knowledge on sacred groves. Mr and Mrs Bishnoi\, were the first to plant Sacred groves within Pune city.\n• Rajendra Kulkarni – Renowned artist and founder of Aakar Pot art\, a Studio Pottery studio since 1998 \nAbout International Mother Earth Day \nThe United Nations designated 22nd April as International Mother Earth Day\, highlighting the need to address the growing environmental and ecological concerns confronting us\, due to our own daily choices and actions. New Acropolis honors this occasion with events and celebrations across 60 countries globally\, contributing to the United Nations Decade for Ecosystem Restoration. \nAbout New Acropolis \nNew Acropolis India is an independent member of an International non-profit association International Organization New Acropolis (IONA)\, represented in centers over 60 countries. We try to understand the forms of expression of cultures past and present\, to discover the roots of their art\, scientific advances\, religious experiences and social and human projects. Taking inspiration from the timeless Indian tradition\, New Acropolis India works with a focus to rediscover India’s rich artistic\, scientific and human heritage and offer it as a vital contribution to collective human progress relevant to our times today.

SUMMARY:Forming a Better Society: Inspiration from Plato
DESCRIPTION:TO REGISTER:\nhttps://bit.ly/3adfQ8E\nWhile we often think of ways in which society should be better\, what is our role in making it so? Plato’s ideas in his work ‘The Republic’ could inspire us to create a just society based on just individuals who actively contribute to its betterment. Since being a citizen implies having both rights and responsibilities\, let us explore how we can give and take justly\, to make society better.
