SUMMARY:Walking The Talk - Practical Philosophy
DESCRIPTION:We often think of philosophy as something abstract even distant. Could there be more to it? \nIf we look at philosophical ideas across cultures and times through a different lens\, they can become practical tools. Philosophy equips us to face the difficulties presented by the times we live in and shows us how to be truly alive. Today\, as humanity battles the pandemic across and its effects the world over\, this way of looking at Philosophy becomes more relevant.  \nOn the occasion of World Philosophy Day\, join us in a conversation with practicing philosophers from different walks of life\, to discover how we can possibly enrich our own lives by practicing philosophy. \nDate and Time: Nov/19\, 6:30 pm to 8 pm \nVenue: Bangalore International Centre\, Domlur\, Bangalore \nSign up here \n*Please note: BIC Venue events need attendees to be vaccinated with at least one dose and to comply with all health and safety protocols \nSpeakers:

SUMMARY:The Diamond Path to Transforming the Heart
DESCRIPTION:About this event\nOnline Talk | Free and mandatory registration \nThe diamond is a universal symbol of purity\, clarity\, durability and perfection. According to some traditions\, it is associated with the energy of the Sun\, and also represents the human possibility of transformation and evolution. Similarly\, the Heart symbolises a centre of transformation\, a means to connect with life’s Wisdom through one’s own effort. Both these symbols therefore represent a path for human development. In this talk\, the Director of New Acropolis India will explore how these two symbols can offer powerful aid to the adventurer and seeker of Truth. \nTo Register: https://zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_-JP4j1VBTVGJQGt1DptEiA

SUMMARY:Paradoxes - Exhibition of photographs by Pierre Poulain
DESCRIPTION:‘Paradoxes’ – Exhibition of photographs by philosopher and renowned international photographer Pierre Poulain. This is presented by New Acropolis (India) in partnership with Sublime Galleria at Art Bengaluru 2019. \n“When one looks at a picture\, the mind recognizes the objects and people in it. But the true meaning of a picture is beyond the reality of what one sees. The true meaning of a photograph is the sentiment behind it.” \nAccording to the traditional and philosophical conception\, Art is always a manifestation of the essential\,  the essence of  Being which necessarily requires an expression to be perceptible. \nThe photographs aim to capture a “paradoxical tension”\, by a contrast of forms\, of situations\, of light\, or of feeling. In photography\, the paradox is always dynamic – it appears suddenly in a gaze\, in a ray of light which illuminates a background\, or in the movement of a person or object which enters the field of the lens. \nFor Pierre Poulain\, photography is more of a philosophical and spiritual journey. Based in Israel\, Pierre’s passion for street photography is supported by his strong views in the various philosophies of life. In 1986\, he founded the centres of New Acropolis in Israel. \nPierre Poulain’s latest exhibition titled ‘Photosophy’ will be presented in Bangalore next year.
