SUMMARY:Exploring the Symbolism of Masks - Celebrating Day of Arts 2025
DESCRIPTION:Presentation and Workshop\nCharges – 500 Rs\nBook your ticket here – https://tinyurl.com/ykw8syxy \nOn 21st June we invite you for a presentation and workshop specially curated for you to explore the symbolism behind masks. Masks are widely used in performing arts. Have we ever wondered about its deeper meaning? \nWhether it is theatre\, dance\, rituals or sacred ceremonies – masks has served as symbols across civilizations\, that conceal the mystery that is man. In Balinese tradition masks took on a sacred meaning\, where the dancer or performer had to undergo a purification process before wearing the mask ceremonially. In theatre ‘masks’ help the actor get into character. In certain African tribes\, masks were used to help communicate with ancestral spirits. In Ancient Egypt it is said that masks briefly helped the priests to temporarily embody the quality of the deity which they were trying to depict. In today’s times we sometimes interpret it as pretending to be someone we are not. \nWhat is the mask made of? In Latin the word ‘ persona’ means mask. We all carry different personalities i.e. different ‘masks’ as we engage in this stage called life. May be masks invite us to engage with the philosophical question ‘Who am I who is wearing the mask?’

SUMMARY:Haiku - Learning to Simplify
DESCRIPTION:Interactive Workshop \nRegister here for your Free seat – https://tinyurl.com/3zyy5n48 \nThe Japanese poetic form of haiku is a succinct and simple poem consisting of only 17 syllables. SUMMARY:Fighting our Inner Monsters: Practical Inspiration from the myth of Theseus
DESCRIPTION:Interactive Talk | Free Entry \nWe’re all fighting our ‘inner monsters’ – ranging from the mildly pesky tendencies that get us into trouble\, to the larger ones that rear their head as big barriers and limitations to our growth and living meaningfully. Myths from ancient cultures that speak of heroes fighting and overcoming monsters have embedded in them certain universal keys to being able to bring these conquests into our own lives – if we can look at them through the language of symbolism. In this interactive talk\, we pick up the ancient Minoan myth of Theseus\, Ariadne and the Minotaur\, and decode the practical inspiration and learnings that we can apply in our fights against our own inner monsters. \nFor any questions\, feel free to contact us over call\, WhatsApp or Telegram at 9986145294. \nTo make the most of this event: \n\nThe centre opens at 6pm. We recommend to come early to meet and interact with other participants and volunteers.\nParticipate in the interactive session with the Instructor at the end of the talk\nThe session includes a short break with tea & snacks\nVolunteers from New Acropolis will be available to receive and help you.
